1st Week’s Energy Conservation Contest Winner
We have our first weekly energy conservation contest winner, and the decision of our judging panel was unanimous! Congratulations to Liz LaJoy for your heroic pledge to “try for 82 degrees” in your home thermostat setting this coming summer.
Wow! That’s strong. Not only do we admire your courage, we are convinced your plan is likely to result in larger energy savings, without requiring an investment, than any of the other suggestions we received. So, we are pleased to award you the $25 prize for this week. We also want to offer you a bit of virtual encouragement we hope will help you stay cool this summer, even if the temperature inside your home gets pretty darn warm. Enjoy!
Thanks also to all our other entrants. Please try again, and please encourage your friends to participate in our contest. The more entries we receive, the more buzz we create, the more we will all win in the long run.
So, on to week two of our contest. Remember, we are looking for energy-saving ideas that apply to your home. The overall contest will run for four weeks. A winner for each week will be announced right here. Each weekly winner will receive a complimentary $25 Gift Card to Home Depot. We will also designate a Grand Prize Winner who will receive a $250 check from LifeStyle Homes.
Liz, that could buy you a whole bunch of iced tea, couldn’t it?
By the way, there are some rules which apply to our contest, and you should check them out. But most of all, let’s have some fun with this – fun with a serious purpose.
Of course, the most fun for us would be to make some friends through this contest who ultimately decide they should purchase a LifeStyle SunSmart home. That would be a truly stellar way to save energy. Wouldn’t it be cool (pun intended) if that were to happen?
So, check us out at our website and send us your best ideas. Most of all, join us in thinking about ways we can save energy at home right now. Less electricity used, less fuel burned, less emissions released, better lives for us all. It’s worth doing, don’t you think?

If you’re buying a new home computer and can’t deciding between a desktop or a laptop, choose the laptop.
Laptop computers use 15 to 25 watts during regular use, compared to 150 watts used by a conventional desktop computer and monitor. Also, Laptops draw a fraction of a watt when in sleep mode compared to a desktop computer.
Great info, thanks for useful article. I’m waiting for more
